Creating Industry-Unique Events for Immigrants across Canada
MRX North Communications, Inc. is a new and innovative media & events company. We’re a Toronto-based venture that focuses on putting together and hosting tradeshows and conferences catering to immigrants across the country based on specific trends and needs. Our events are designed to fulfill and satisfy voids that have not been serviced in the evergrowing Canadian landscape. Our CEO and Chief Disruptor of MRX North Communications, Inc., Mark Raju Mauleesan describes the creation of the company as
“A solution to a number of growing frustrations that were noticed across various ethnic communities and groups in the GTA. The three staple annual events run by MRX actually stem from personal connections that I have to these market segments. As a first-generation Tamil-Canadian father of two little children with a background in medicine and business, it just made sense to me. I’m a serial entrepreneur that’s heavily involved in medical education, marketing, and advertising and dealing with people from all walks of life on a daily basis. When I was brainstorming the idea with my family and friends, it was always a ‘how come this kind of event doesn’t already exist?’ scenario and when three specific voids were noticed, a company that tackled all three seemed like the logical move.”
The three staple events, all launching for the first time 2020 include The Tholil Expo, The IMG Conference and Mya South Asian Baby Show 2020. The three events are catered to different demographics and provide opportunities and services that have never been offered before. As the parent company, MRX North Communications, Inc. works to educate, connect, expand and strengthen both individuals, businesses, and organizations through their events, while promoting inclusivity through diversity.
The Tholil Expo | Saturday, May 30, 2020
The Tholil Expo is the first event put together by the team at MRX North Communications, Inc. The direct translation of the Tamil word, ‘tholil’ is “career.” But the event is more than just a job fair, as it also encompasses a simultaneous symposium with speakers and panel discussions from successful Tamil men and women across the country. The Tamil community has significantly grown over the last decade in Canada and is populated with many unemployed and/or underemployed graduates. Unlike the Jewish or Italian communities who have roots dating by over a hundred years in Canada, Tamils are a relatively younger population, with the earliest Tamil-speaking migrants coming to Canada back in the 1950s. As such, this event is an opportunity for Tamilians to connect with others who have been successful in three major industries: education, corporate/industry and non-profits. Exhibitors and sponsors will come from each of these segments and although the Tholil Expo caters specifically to the Tamil-speaking diaspora across Canada, anyone and everyone are welcome to attend the event. What makes The Tholil Expo unique from traditional career fairs is the involvement of both the educational services and non-profits. Educational services like private-career colleges, training programs and private institutions for children and matures adults will be at Tholil to provide options and resources for people looking to further their skills, obtain a degree/diploma or learn a new trade. So why non-profits at Tholil? There are numerous Tamil-run non-profits and charities that are either unknown or unheard of or don’t have the platform to share their mission and initiatives with a larger audience. Additionally, there’s never been an event of this magnitude that gathers all these charitable organizations under one roof. The Tholil expo provides a perfect space for non-profits to share their vision, recruit new volunteers, forge new partnerships, and connect with future donors. This event also provides an opportunity for Tamilians to learn about such organizations and offer their support. Tickets for The Tholil Expo are on sale now through www.tholilexpo.com
The IMG Conference | Saturday, Aug. 1, 2020
According to recent stats, roughly one-third of all practicing physicians across Canada are foreign-educated/trained. Physicians come to Canada to earn better wages, provide a better home for their family and seek new opportunities. This story isn’t different from any other industry dealing with qualified foreign-trained professionals seeking to call Canada, ‘Home.’ However, in the last few years, International Medical Graduates (IMGs) have been left somewhat in the dark as to the steps they need to take, and the services that are available to them during this lengthy and costly endeavor as well as any useful resource to help them along the way. The IMG Conference is an event created for these international medical graduates, including the many Canadians who choose to study medicine abroad in places throughout the Caribbean, Ireland, the UK, and Asia. This conference will help IMGs find direction, guidance, services, and resources to help achieve their dreams. We’ll have exhibitors showcasing relevant products and services specifically for the IMG audience while on the mainstage, various speakers and panel Q&As will address some of the important elements behind medical education, licensing and training in Canada. For more information please visit www.IMGconference.com.
Mya South Asian Baby Show | Saturday, November 28, 2020
South Asians are one of the largest ethnic groups in the GTA. Following the ever-growing trend of numerous bridal shows catering to this population, The Mya South Asian Baby Show was envisioned as a next natural progression to this growing market. It is the first baby show that will cater to South Asians across the GTA. This event is dedicated to South Asian parents, those planning a family and everyone in between, with an opportunity to interact with each other. Attendees will be presented with the chance to connect with experts and educate themselves in all manners of parenthood from feeding, clothing, healthcare, development, etc... This event will be filled with education, product and service recommendations on our exhibitor floor and an opportunity to meet people who are going through the same stage of life as them.
